The Board of ECEBC is thrilled to announce the hiring of our new executive director, Emily Mlieczko. Our hiring panel, who consisted of two board members, a staff member and a human resource consultant delivered a unanimous choice in Emily and the board completely supports their recommendation.
Emily relocates to the lower Mainland from Prince Rupert where since 2001 she has been the manager of Westview Child Care Centre, a community program that offers four programs, employs seven staff and has 85 children enrolled. Emily is a licensed Early Childhood Educator with a Special Needs Citation. She is in the process of completing coursework in First Nations Environments in Early Childhood Settings.
Emily has been engaged at the community and provincial level on a number of different projects and events such as the Westview Parent Advisory Council, ECEBC Prince Rupert branch, Aboriginal and Supported Child Development Advisory Board, Success by Six and Make Children First to name a few. At the provincial level Emily is involved with the Investigating Quality project through the University of Victoria and the ECEBC Leadership Project where she and her 2 colleagues from Prince Rupert were successful in having Prince Rupert named a child friendly community. In 2007 Emily was the Prince Rupert community contact for “Child Care Let’s Make It Happen” Code Blue Tour.
Emily begins her new position on May 17. We are delighted to welcome her to ECEBC.
