Preschool Teacher (ECE)

Dunbar Memorial Preschool located in the Dunbar area of Vancouver close to UBC is looking for a full time year round Early Childhood Educator to work in its preschool programs.  We offer preschool programs year round. 

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

• ECE with IT or SN is preferred but Basic ECE holders should apply.
• A current BC ECE Certificate.
• Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C Certificate.
• Music, yoga or some other specialty skill set would be an asset.
• New grads are welcome to apply.
• Able to legally work in Canada for a minimum of 2 years

Salary & Benefits:

• $22 - $24 per hour plus $6 an hour wage enhancement
• 2 weeks paid vacation to start
• 10 paid sick days per year
• Annual allowance for health/dental benefits
• Reimbursement for First Aid recertification

• Additional language skills other than English (preferred but not required).

• Ability to carry up to 20 pounds and move furniture as required for room set up and clean up.

• An understanding of Licensing, including the BC Child Care Regulations.
• Strong time-management, self-management and interpersonal skills.
• An ability to use technology such as MS Word and Excel, social media etc and a comfort level in learning new technologies.
• The ability to plan curriculum for 2-5 year olds that takes into account the children’s individual interests, learning styles and development.
• Experience in observation skills and using those observations in curriculum planning and in providing colleagues and families with feedback on their child’s progress.
• The capacity to build trusting, respectful relationships with children, families, and teachers.
• A passion for working with children using positive child guidance techniques.
• A commitment to ongoing learning and to remaining current on emerging trends and issues regarding child and family development work, and parenting practices, along with up-to-date knowledge of local community services and resources.
