The Ark Playday centre is a not-for-profit run, $10-a-day childcare facility. We have a multi-age

program, a group program (30 months-school age), before and after school care for school-aged

children and an outdoor preschool program (ages 3-5). All of our programs have a strong

emphasis on spending time in the outdoors and in the community. At the Ark, we aim to foster a

child's positive self-image and to help them develop a range of skills through a variety of

activities. Most importantly, we provide a fun, safe, and accepting environment where children

are encouraged to explore, play and learn at their own pace. We are seeking an ECE who is

caring, creative and passionate about educating young children. Orientation and training will be

provided.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

• Use team approach to plan, implement and evaluate a developmentally

appropriate, inclusive and high-quality program for children ages 3 to 5

• Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of children

• Guide and assist children in the development of daily care routines

• Establish & maintain good communication and rapport with parents and caregivers

• Light housekeeping to ensure program facilities and equipment are safe and clean

• May supervise and co-ordinate the activities of Early Childhood Educator Assistants

• Participate in ongoing internal and external professional development

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

Valid Early Childhood Educator Certificate issued by the ECE BC registry

• Valid emergency childcare 1st Aid/CPR certification

• Clear criminal record check upon hire

• Valid class 4 driver's licence is an asset

Salary & Benefits:

Schedule: 35 hours per week between the hours of 7:45am-5:30pm

• Starting wage $26-$28 (includes $4/hour MCFD wage enhancement)
