Who are we?

Over the past 19 years, Aberdeen Hall has become a top-level independent school that provides excellent academics and a strong character education to our diverse student population of 700 preschool to grade 12 children. Our Montessori-themed early learning program includes 47 students. 

 

Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School has an opportunity for a Director of Preschool. You will be responsible for creating a warm and supportive preschool community where everyone is valued and feels a strong sense of belonging.   You will join our team in implementing an engaging early years curriculum and ensuring compliance with all regulations.  Each day you will teach a class of 10 students in the morning and provide administration and other support to our programming in the afternoon. Our preschool programming runs with our school year from September through to late June and our camp's programming includes a week in early January, a week in March and four weeks after school is out in June.  This role will include six weeks as an ECE Camp Counselor each year.

Aberdeen Hall provides

  • Competitive annual salary $64,000 - $74,000 inclusive of vacation pay and the BC government wage enhancement. Commensurate with education and years of teaching experience

Success Factors

  • Certification in Early Childhood Education (required)

  • Five or more years experience managing an early years centre (required)

  • Montessori Training or willing to obtain it 

  • Experience in an Independent School (asset)

  • ECE Camp Counselor experience (asset)

  • The ability to foster a strong community through leadership or supervisory experience 

  • Oversee and help create engaging daily activities

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the Child Care Licensing Regulation 

  • Computer Skills: Google Classroom, docs, sheets, slides and Gmail

  • Known to model the highest standards of professional practice and interactions with all stakeholders

  • Ability to understand the importance of emotional intelligence and empathy in building trust and contribute to a positive working atmosphere across the School community

  • Known to communicate, negotiate, collaborate and build partnerships effectively
