Child Care Provider Support Consultant/ Parent Community Liaison

(Temporary Maternity Leave)

NSCR seeks a temporary full time (until March 31 2024, 35 hours/week) Child Care Provider Support Consultant and Parent Community Liaison for the Child Care Resource and Referral Program (CCRR) and Community Action Program for Children (CAPC). This position requires occasional evening and weekend availability. 

This position works with current License Not Required (LNR), licensed family child care providers, and families on the North Shore. They are responsible for developing strategies to support family child care providers, organizing activities, and 1:1 client support.

Responsibilities

Services to Families

  • Lead staff to provide information and assistance to clients applying for the provincial ACCB and any other childcare initiatives as required
  • In conjunction with partner agencies, plans, organizes and implements special events for parents and children aged 0-6
  • Leads the Parent Activity Group and is the primary person for special events, including CAPC Mother Goose program.
  • Attend community events and programs sharing information and resources on CAPC and CCRR
  • Host parent workshops and lead events in the community for children and families

Services to child care providers

  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate the family child care provider networking group, with monthly meetings and ongoing professional development.
  • Facilitate CCRR drop-in programs and activities for children, families, and child care providers as required by the program
  • Monitor registered LNR child care providers for health and safety standards as per the criteria mandated by the Ministry of Education & Child Care (MECC) ensuring that these child care providers remain in compliance with provincial standards
  • Support child care providers and families in accessing CCRR services

Administrative Duties

  • Develop and maintain files and statistics as required
  • Maintain a working knowledge of community services and resource persons and provides this information to child care providers, families, and the community
  • Looks to create new partnerships across the North Shore (e.g. with our local Indigenous Nations, other non-profits and community organizations, etc.)
  • Virtually and physically distribute CCRR and CAPC materials (i.e Free Things Flyer) within community
  • Attend meetings with community partners
     

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Valid BC Early Childhood Certificate or degree 
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in child care centers with some supervisory responsibility
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), reporting, record-keeping, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as seek assistance/advice/direction as appropriate
  • Understanding of and experience with client relationships and professional ethics (Code of Ethics ECEBC)
  • Appropriate computer and other technological literacy
  • A valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license and vehicle
  • Appropriate Criminal Records & Vulnerable Sector Check
  • One or more additional languages will be an asset

Hourly Wage:                $26.50 – $28.18 per hour
