Salt Spring Early Learning Centre and Little Rainbows Early Learning Centre are seeking dedicated, motivated, and positive Early Childhood Educators to join our amazing teams! We are well-established non-profit centres located in Ganges on beautiful Salt Spring Island. We provide a stimulating and creative environment where children are encouraged to develop their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, confident, has a passion for teaching children, shows initiative, and can work in a positive team environment.
We are open year-round, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm except for statutory holidays. Our competitive hourly wage is based upon qualifications, experience, and education. Qualifying staff will also receive the $6/hour ECE Wage Enhancement. We offer paid sick time, medical benefits, professional development courses, and reduced childcare rates for employees’ children. The Early Learning Centres also provides support for related education and will assist in securing housing if needed.
Qualifications and Skills: Early Childhood Educators Specific:
Must have a valid certificate or diploma to practice in British Columbia in Early Childhood Education (ECE, ECEA, or ECE/IT) or be enrolled in a ECE BC certified program
Current license to practice
Experience working with children in a childcare setting
Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR
Current Criminal Record Check
Ability to plan, prepare and implement developmentally appropriate activities based on interests of the child that will meet their physical, cognitive, intellectual, social, cultural, creative, and emotional needs
Facilitate group activities
Strong interpersonal skills and works well in team-based environment
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide high quality care for children
Work as a team in cooperation with multiple ECEs and under the supervision of the Executive Directors
Practice active supervision of children during indoor and outdoor activities
Plan, maintain, and ensure an environment that protects the health, security, privacy, and well-being of children
Guide and assist children in the development of daily care routines
Have effective interpersonal skills with parents, children, and other staff members
Plan and lead developmentally appropriate, Montessori & Reggio inspired, inclusive and high-quality programs for children.
