We are a non profit support program and drop in for parents and children offering large and small motor skill toys, outreach and education. We are funded by the Ministry of Children and Families and our goal is to connect with the community by offering our services free of charge.
Job description
The Program Coordinator is a member of a small staff team responsible for the planning and delivery of our drop in program for children (from birth to five) and their parents/caregivers. The Coordinator works closely with the caregivers and outreach staff to provide a safe, educational and fun environment for all families.
Days of operation are Tuesday and Friday mornings ONLY from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
Responsibilities include:
Plan, implement and evaluate a full range of age appropriate playroom activities including circle time
Maintain Family Place's emotionally safe, respectful and all inclusive environment
Work closely with children and caregivers to support their children and enhance parenting skills
Provide information about local resources with participants as needed
Liaise with family support professionals and executive director in making referrals for community resources
Qualifications:
Working knowledge and understanding of issues/concerns affecting families of young children
Previous experience with a family resource program an asset
Familiarity with community services
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated sensitivity to ethnic and cultural diversity
Industry: Education and Schools
Qualifications:
Basic ECE
Additional Qualifications:
Early Childhood Education certificate a MUST
Working knowledge and understanding of issues/concerns affecting families of young children
Previous experience with a family resource program an asset
Familiarity with community services
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated sensitivity to ethnic and cultural diversity
Second language an asset
