Terra Nova Nature School Tour

Now in it’s ninth year, coordinators Kate Dawson and Emily Vera will share their journey of opening and operating Terra Nova Nature School in Terra Nova Rural Park. They will discuss the ways in which Indigenous ways of knowing; Forest Schools; and the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, come together to guide their emergent and place-based curriculum. Situated in Terra Nova Rural Park, TNNS offers licensed preschool and educational programs for children ages birth to 15 years. Participants will spend time inside the school as well as outside in the park. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather. TNNS is jointly operated jointly Thompson Community Association, and the City of Richmond.

Seedlings Early Childhood Development Hub Tour

Aspire Richmond has been offering child care in the Richmond community for over 40 years. In 2022 Aspire began operations at Seedlings Early Childhood Development Hub, a new state of the art facility in the heart of Downtown Richmond. This unique HUB integrates Early Intervention Services; Infant Development and Supported Child Development Programs along with 5 different child care programs ranging from infancy thru grade 7. These inclusive child care programs provide care for 107 children supporting children with developmental disabilities to define, discover and advocate for their self-determined goals, passion, and happiness. Aspire Richmond is the largest nonprofit social service provider of programs and services that support over 1000 children, youth, and their families each year in the City of Richmond to live thriving, connected and happy lives.
